Well-deserved recognition for our legal team

Public Justice is an organization committed to combatting “social and economic injustice, protect the Earth’s sustainability, and challenge predatory corporate conduct and government abuses.”

Every year, they select their Trial Lawyer of the Year Award to the attorney or legal team who contributed most to the public interest over the past year by litigating or settling a case that sets a precedent and is socially significant.

At their 2020 Annual Gala on August 6, they recognized our team of attorneys at North Carolina Nuisance Cases whose commitment to low-income communities of color saw them taking on factory farms negatively impacting their quality of life.

Obstacles were placed in their way, starting with the plaintiff launching what was described as an aggressive and wide-reaching social media campaign. Not satisfied with spreading misinformation, they retained lobbyists that convinced lawmakers to pass laws that only served to undermine the plaintiffs’ cases.

The complexity of the case that started in 2013 grew to 26 lawsuits with multiple plaintiffs – 500 in total – and tried in federal court. Now seven years in, they continue their already successful legal pursuit of justice with verdicts in their favor following every jury trial.

Members recognized with the prestigious award were Mona Lisa Wallace, John Hughes, Daniel Wallace, Mark Doby, Whitney Wallace of Wallace and Graham, P.A., Lynn Bradshaw, Michael Kaeske of Kaeske Law Firm, and Lisa Blue of Baron Blue.

Congratulations to the dedicated and diligent lawyers at our firm whose hard work, dedication, and diligence resulted in more than just an award. Justice won out as well.
