Some older electrical products could pose asbestos exposure risks

In the past, there were many types of products that had components made of asbestos. Electrical products were among such products. In today's world, however, electrical components and devices are generally not manufactured using asbestos. This does not, however, mean that there are no longer any asbestos-exposure risks related to electrical products. This is because there are many older, asbestos-containing electrical components that are still in use out in the world.

There are many ways a person could potentially be exposed to asbestos through electrical components including:

  • Exposure while working. Some jobs could potentially involve working directly with older, asbestos-made electrical components, such as electrical repair jobs.
  • Exposure at the workplace. Workplaces that have older electrical products and components in use could still have some asbestos-containing components in them.
  • Exposure at home. Asbestos not only used to be used in electrical components and devices for industrial/workplace use, but also in electrical products for home use.

Sometimes, asbestos exposure results in a person developing an asbestos-related disease, such asbestosis or mesothelioma. Individuals who have ended up with such a disease as a result of electrical-product-related asbestos exposure may have many concerns, including:

  • Will I be able to get the medical care I need?
  • What financial impacts will the disease have on me?
  • What are my rights, and how do I assert these rights?
  • Can I get compensation to help with dealing with the disease and its impacts?

Our firm understands how difficult dealing with an asbestos-related disease is. We can provide individuals who have developed such a disease through asbestos exposure, such as electrical-product-related exposure, with caring and diligent help with a wide variety of issues, including issues regarding getting medical care, issues regarding gathering evidence on how exactly they developed the disease and legal issues regarding compensation. We can assist asbestos exposure victims with looking into whether product liability lawsuits, workers' compensation claims or other legal actions could be pursued in relation to what happened to them.
