Defendants cited for failing to warn and protect against asbestos

Mesothelioma is an especially deadly form of lung disease which results when an individual has been exposed to asbestos materials and fibers. In many cases, those diagnosed with mesothelioma have only months to live after a formal diagnosis is made. While death is swift, most individuals impacted by this deadly lung cancer suffer tremendously towards the end of their lives.

The children of one man who died from this devastating form of lung disease recently filed a lawsuit against their father's former employers. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs contend the four named defendants were negligent in failing to provide for a safe work environment and warn employees about both the presence of and dangers associated with exposure to asbestos materials.

As a result of the defendants' negligent actions, the plaintiffs assert their father developed lung cancer from which he subsequently died. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover compensation related to their father's physical and mental pain and suffering and well as medical expenses.

The adverse health effects of asbestos exposure have been well documented. In many cases, however, companies knowingly and willingly fail to both warn and protect employees from exposure to hazardous materials such as asbestos. Companies and employers found guilty of engaging in such deceptive and illegal practices can be held liable for their actions and any injuries or deaths that result.

Individuals or family members who have been adversely impacted by exposure to asbestos materials and products may choose to pursue legal action. In many cases, such exposure results from an employer's failure to follow state and federal safety policies and regulations.
