BILL GRAHAM: The general treatment options that are available for mesothelioma or lung cancer are radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery. The advice I would give regarding treatment is, whether you decide to do radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery, after consultation with your doctor, make sure the decision is right for you and your family.
If after consultation with your doctor you decide on surgery, please understand that's a big step. There are few hospitals around the country that have extensive experience in the surgical procedure for mesothelioma. And results may vary, depending on the individual.
There are also two more things that the client should always know. One is that there are clinical trials ongoing around the country all the time. And the other is that there are experimental drugs that are available for treatment of mesothelioma and lung cancer.
The most important thing I want a client to understand is no matter what treatment option they decide on, decide and move forward quickly because they're going to benefit in the long run.
