BILL GRAHAM: If someone has developed asbestosis and later develops a cancer they believe is related, particularly lung cancer, they should always investigate their legal rights as they may have another claim that they believe is connected to that asbestos exposure.
Lung cancer's related to asbestos exposure by placing the recipient of the exposure at an increased risk for the development of the disease. Asbestos fibers are a complete carcinogen as it's referred to in the medical literature. That is that it can cause cancer in and of itself.
If you're a smoker and you're exposed to asbestos, you're at an increased risk for the development of the disease up to 90 times greater than that of the general public.
The clients that come in with lung cancer are mostly concerned about what their legal rights are. And do they have a remedy? We want to make sure that they understand what questions they need to be asking and the answers they should be getting.
It's important for me to address every client's questions and giving them proper answers, also to make sure their medical record is complete and that we've confirmed the diagnosis. And so I can take that worry off of them. And we can get about the representation of their case.
